Pressing Pause But Not Logging Off

Welcome back to the Velvet Runway and this feature about Pressing Pause But Not Logging Off.

After a lot of thought (and a few too many half-finished to-do lists), I’ve decided to take a sabbatical.

This isn’t one of those “life update” posts with a dramatic plot twist or a big reveal. It’s simply time for me to step back, take a deep breath, and recharge physically, mentally and creatively.

Whether you’ve been here for the travel guides, the style inspiration, the lifestyle tips—or all of the above—I want you to know how grateful I am for your presence, your comments, and your continued support over the years.

Pressing Pause But Not Logging Off

The art of slow living

1. What does this mean for the blog?

The site isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it will still be lovingly maintained during this pause. I’ll be updating older posts to make sure links work, recommendations are current, and tips stay useful. You’ll still be able to explore destination ideas, outfit advice, lifestyle insights, and all the cozy corners of the blog like always.

Think of it less like a “closed for business” sign and more like your favorite boutique doing a quiet refresh behind the scenes.

2. And when I come back…

Let’s just say I have a few ideas brewing. I won’t spoil anything just yet, but I’m already dreaming up some fresh inspiration—I’m excited to explore what’s next… and to bring you along for the ride when the time is right.

Over time, this space has grown into something truly special, and I want to ensure that what comes next is even more thoughtful and inspiring.

  1. Hi Julia

A sabbatical sounds great and I really need to do the same! I’ve been at this since Aug 2014 withouth any long break….it really can wear you down . The constant crazy wheel of content creation, socials and upkeep is un-relenting! Anyway I enjoyed this read and I hope you enjoy your time off. I just cancelled my cruise press tour..cuz its in 3 weeks and I just got home. After the fiasco’s of this last trip, I did not feel like going!

I think that unless you do this type of work you can’t imagine how much work is involved! I really needed a break and am feeling a lot more energized and creative now! I hope you manage to take a break – just disconnecting from social media for a couple of weeks helps to recharge! xo
