Welcome back to The Velvet Runway and this feature about How to have a Stylishly Spooky Halloween.

We are now half-way through October, and as we are enjoying delicious pumpkin spiced lattes,  Autumn colours and crisp Autumn mornings, we still have Halloween to look forward to! Here are my 8 steps to have a Stylishly Spooky Halloween.

my picks for porch and outdoor decor.

How to have a Stylishly Spooky Halloween

Decorate the porch/ the outside

Decorate the porch with pumpkins, fall colored flowers, fall vegetables, leaves and wreaths.

You can make this as spooky or as colourful as you like. If you’re short of inspiration, just collect as many pumpkins as possible in all different shapes, sizes and colors and line them up the steps or place them on a shelf.

You can also add spooky porch lights for that festive feel. Here are a few of my picks for porch and outdoor decor. Just click on the image to buy.

Create a Stylishly Spooky Halloween ambiance

Fill the wall with flying bats, add a witches broom, pumpkins and candles for some spook appeal, and put haunted house lanterns on the side.

Alternatively, you can keep the focus on pumpkins and pile them up in the fireplace, and why not place a couple on the mantelpiece too!

Create a focal point with a stylishly spooky Halloween centre piece

Make a spooky centre piece to create a focal point above the fireplace, on the coffee table, on the dining table or any place you want to draw the eye.

Here are a few of my favorite centre piece picks. Just click on the image to find out more.

If you don’t want to invest too much time or money, you could simply carve out a big Jack O’ Lantern.

Add a little pumpkin spiced scent

A simple and cheap way to add some Halloween decor is to add some candles.

Your choice of candle influences the style of your decor from tall elegant pillars, to Yankee Candles through to tea lights, and choosing the right scent can make a huge impact on the overall ambiance of the room. There’s no shortage of scents to choose from and the right fragrance can change a dull ambiance into something enchanting and welcoming.

If you want to keep your candles beyond Halloween, opt for more minimalistic styles and scents that give a Fall/ Autumn vibe, such as pumpkin spiced latte, cinnamon, spiced apple or sandalwood.

If you want to go “all-in” for Halloween than you can find some more “scary” options, such as ghoul heads, floating eyeballs and skeleton/ ghost shaped candles.

Here are my picks of the candles!

And finally, opt for some stylishly spooky Halloween lighting

As I said above, candles are a perfect addition to your Halloween decor, but there are also lots of other lighting options, both for indoors and outdoors.

You might want to change out your porch lights for more orange toned lights, and add some path lights to create atmosphere.

Garland lights are also a popular choice for both indoors and outdoors, and orange toned lighting is great for pumpkins and flames, and adding warmth.
