As Spring has now sprung, and the warmer weather finally made an appearance this weekend, I’m giving a brief reminder of some of the key Spring trends for 2017.

Read on for some fashion inspiration and for my favorite 2017 Spring trends.

Spring trends 2017

Even though the fashion world is at least one season ahead, we are actually only just arriving in Spring this year, so I’ve put together a brief recap of the trends that are hitting the stores at the moment.  Here are a just a few of the current trends,

Fuchsia and other super bright colours

Pink—and very bright pink- was very prominent at the S/S 2017 fashion shows last year, with designers such as  Valentino, Celine and Balenciaga all using lots of bright fuchsia in their catwalk shows. If you’re not a fan of pink, then sunshine yellow, electric blue and bright green are all big this Spring.

Ruffles

Ruffles are transitioning from the autumn/winter catwalks to this spring/summer, but if you’re not into the romantic, girly ruffles, then you could try the black, leather ruffles inspired by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen or Mulberry‘s office-wear ruffles!

Of course, ruffles can be combined with other trends and worn as tops, skirts, dresses, jumpers and even coats!

Florals and Stripes

The above dress combines the cold shoulder trend with florals, but it is just as easy to incorporate florals into your outfit in a top, skirt or even boots!

Head to toe florals were spotted at many of the fashion shows, such as Victoria Beckham, Chloe and Dolce & Gabbana.

However, if you don’t like florals, then statement stripes are going to be big too, or why not combine both!

Ruffles, bows and bells (Statement Sleeves)

Statement sleeves are one of my favorite trends this season, and can be easily combined with another key Spring trend (such as florals, stripes, ruffles and gingham to name a few possibilities).

The cold shoulder trend is also carrying on this season, and can be combined with statement sleeves, such as in the stripy top above.

 Underwear as outerwear

This trend has been sported by many of the celebrities, and the bralette has been seen on many of the catwalks, but, if like me, you’re not quite ready to adapt this trend full on and walk around with an exposed bra, then an easier way to wear this trend is to wear a slip dress (either on its own with a jacket or layered over a sweater) or consider a pyjama style top/ kimono to start off with!

Eighties Revival

Spring trends

The eighties revival trend is going to be big this season – think oversized shoulder pads, sweetheart necklines, smoking jackets, metallics, spandex and gold lamé! The eighties revival can be quite moderate, such as the slogan tee-shirts seen at Dior, Princess Diana inspired (as seen at Gucci), the one-shoulder dress or full on 80’s party style, which is not for the faint-hearted (disco leggings, neon spandex….)

Other key trends this spring and summer include the trench coat, khaki, deconstructed shirting, tulle, sportswear and gingham.
